Home Away From Home: Maryland Grabs Another Florida Commitment with CB Allen Ramsey

Image via www.soflafootball.com

It feels weird to say this, but...another day, another Maryland football commitment? Looks like it.

The good word comes from the awesome and surprisingly useful (for me) SoFLA Football:

"It's official," said Ramsey of his impending commitment to Maryland. "I did it just now after their practice. I told (Head) Coach Friedgen, and then I told the recruiting coach Ryan (Steinberg) and Coach (Don) Brown. I went around to each coach individually, shook their hand, and told them I was a Terp."

Ramsey is a 5-11, 163lb "rangy" cornerback from - guess where - Florida. We can thank Don Brown...again. Consider something: at this stage, Maryland has six commitments: one from the state of Maryland, and two from the state of Florida. I'm not complaining or anything - hey, I watched The U - but it's a pretty intriguing trend.

As for his game, well, Ramsey is a little bit of an unknown on the internet front, with little to speak of in the way of video. His combine results are available, and even if they aren't quite as spectacular as Marcus Leak's, they're pretty solid:

DB: Allen Ramsey, 5-11, 163, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard
Results: 4.71 40, 4.56 shuttle, 31-0 PB, 30.5 VJ, 67.11 SPARQ
Breakdown: Fluid cornerback is another player of note to emerge from Dillard, long one of the most talented programs in Broward.

Hey, I have no problems setting up relations with a powerhouse in SoFLA.

So, too, is his interest list: his Scout profile has Nebraska, Oregon, TCU, and Tennessee. You never know how accurate those are, but it's still a step up from Buffalo and JMU.

When we find out more, we'll update. Right now, just bask in the sunshine of another Florida commitment.

It's a Combination

MD Basketball has offset football recruiting to some extent and Maryland basketball has caught the eye of a lot of talented kids, hopefully we will have a great basketball recruiting class. Don Brown has amazing connections in Florida; honestly after playing the way we did last year the only direction to go is up.

This is our 6th commitment we wished we had this many commitments last year. I love this commitment though he seems like a sleeper type of guy and honestly half of our recruits are just that, we need to go all out on Cyrus Kouandijo!

I've heard for a while that Fla HS players are farther along in their development than most others because they've played all year long.

I just didn’t know if it was true. Playing in pads in July in south Fla has to be a real test of dedication.
