UTEP vs Butler is the game of the day IMO. Can’t wait to watch that one!

With the 18th pick of the 2010 NFL Draft the Pittsburgh Steelers select Florida QB Tim Tebow. (not a RB!)

agree...

i think xavier and minnesota will be a neck and neck affair as well…very closely matched in terms of pomeroy numbers

BYU is the team i'm most intersted in seeing

they have such an awesome pomeroy ranking…and look great on paper…but i want to see them in action b/c i remain skeptical

by tiimbitz4786 on Mar 18, 2010 11:47 AM EDT reply actions

Not surprising

A lot of 13-16 seeds come out gunning and often catch the higher seeds napping. Usually the high seed wakes up after half. Then we see who wants it more.

Wow great end to ND vs. ODU

And

BYU vs. FL tied with 18.8 left

FL misses

BYU calls a time out with no more than 2 seconds left

Assuming Robert Morris holds on

it’ll be quite the inauspicious start to the tournament for the Big East.

by Jason Middlekauff on Mar 18, 2010 2:36 PM EDT reply actions

Checking in

Got my laptop, plenty of food and drink, and I’m parked in front of the TV. Time for fun.

BYU-Florida is a great game. Fredette’s a choker.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 2:39 PM EDT reply actions

Or not

He hit that huge 3

With the 18th pick of the 2010 NFL Draft the Pittsburgh Steelers select Florida QB Tim Tebow. (not a RB!)

by Johnny_S on Mar 18, 2010 3:15 PM EDT up reply actions

Are you kidding me FLA?

That’s your end of game shot? That’s worse than Greivis Vasquez’s look against Wake Forest by a mile.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 2:39 PM EDT reply actions

BYU will pull it out

Fredette’s pretty good, but they won’t get past KST.

Meanwhile, Nova misses the last second shot.

This tournament is awesome.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 2:51 PM EDT reply actions

Not through the first slate of games

am I’m already tired of the Ivan brothers commercials online.

Murray State is pretty good

The Vandy-MSU game will be another good one. Considering these are the weak brackets, I’m pretty eager to see some of the opening Midwest games.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Coke Zero Commercial featuring UNC and UConn. HILARIOUS

Scottie Reynolds!

Not a NOVA fan, but I love me some Scottie. What a shot. Iced the game.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 3:04 PM EDT reply actions

I believe the phrase is

DAGGER! Yeah, I love Scottie too. Have you ever heard the story of how he ended up at Nova? Crazy.

by Dave Tucker on Mar 18, 2010 3:05 PM EDT up reply actions

OMG

Wow. That was MD-Georgia Tech-esque.

by Dave Tucker on Mar 18, 2010 3:08 PM EDT reply actions

Wow

How do you pull out and not dunk that?

Could cost the game.

by Dave Tucker on Mar 18, 2010 3:12 PM EDT reply actions

This Abraham kid is one of my new favorite players

Love the mohawk, the moxie, the quickness…perfect college basketball player.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 3:14 PM EDT reply actions

ok for now

2/3 on my picks for the first games. Nova almost gave me a heart attack though, I have them deep.

by discuit on Mar 18, 2010 3:15 PM EDT reply actions

Me too

I have them beating Duke in almost all of my brackets. I would have cried.

by Dave Tucker on Mar 18, 2010 3:16 PM EDT up reply actions

Feel bad for RMU

Terrible shot, but great effort.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 3:16 PM EDT reply actions

Similar to Nova of last year, right?

They almost lost to American in the first round last year. I don’t see another Final Four, though.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 3:17 PM EDT reply actions

except they beat American by 13 in regulation.

by ivan24 on Mar 18, 2010 3:36 PM EDT up reply actions

Correct

Just looked it up; AU was winning in the second half, though – that’s why I thought that.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 3:38 PM EDT up reply actions

It looks like whatever they were trying to run

fell apart, but you have to tip your hat to these kids. Great game.

by machphantom on Mar 18, 2010 3:17 PM EDT reply actions

CBS online

Is all screwy this year, i keep getting deja-vu coverage

With the 18th pick of the 2010 NFL Draft the Pittsburgh Steelers select Florida QB Tim Tebow. (not a RB!)

by Johnny_S on Mar 18, 2010 3:23 PM EDT reply actions

Word

What makes them even worse is that they feature Seth Davis. ZING!

Have you seen the commerciall for Coke Zero /the NCAA tourney that features the UNC and UConn Mascots? Irony!

by Dave Tucker on Mar 18, 2010 3:28 PM EDT up reply actions

This Baylor game is kinda boring

Yeah

Not feeling great about my Baylor FF pick right about now.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 3:49 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah I have them in a few of my FF

murray state looks a lot better than vandy

by Johnny_S on Mar 18, 2010 3:54 PM EDT reply actions

Crud

Gotta take a break. Good thing there’s nothing big going on right now.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 4:02 PM EDT reply actions

Back

MSU-Vandy is a great game.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 4:28 PM EDT reply actions

Ogilvy is legitimately a top five strange looking player

WTF is going on with him? Frosted tips, semi-stache, overall non-ripped build, awkward…not a good combo.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 4:34 PM EDT reply actions

What a play....I love March.

That shot is Nicholas-esque.

Sets up perfectly for 12-13 game in the next round.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 4:44 PM EDT reply actions

you see the bracket of last-second shots that they did on SportsNation with Cowherd? As an 11 seed, that shot upset 2 others and barely lost to the N.C. State airball-dunk (I think).

by ivan24 on Mar 18, 2010 4:49 PM EDT up reply actions

Anyone else find it impossible to like St. Mary's?

I want to punch Samhan in the face. And what’s with the guy with the duo-tone mouthguard?

Unfortunately, it looks like my surprise Sweet 16 team will lose to them.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 5:14 PM EDT reply actions

yeah i had richmond too…if i would have known they would close to zero rebounds i might have said otherwise

by nroop1 on Mar 18, 2010 5:25 PM EDT up reply actions

Butler just screwed over my bracket

UTEP fell apart. Guess I now have two incorrect Sweet 16 teams.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 7:06 PM EDT reply actions

Haha, I kinda hope they lose

Because then its proven that were the best team in the DC/MD/VA region.

I dont even care about hte state of my brackets anyway, because I had Richmond beating Nova in my 2nd round.

by aMo on Mar 18, 2010 8:17 PM EDT up reply actions

Yep, same

Bracket is messed up big time now.

But yeah, I’d love to rub this in the face of my GT friends, too.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 8:30 PM EDT up reply actions

As enjoyable as GTown losing is

it also shows what happens when the favored team takes a team lightly that was 7-9 in a weak conference but went on a tear to win their conference tourney. The Terps need intensity and execution tomorrow to avoid the same fate.

by Jason Middlekauff on Mar 18, 2010 9:00 PM EDT reply actions

Yes, they do, but G-Town has followed the script for how to get upset in the tourney:
1) come out flat
2) let the other team take a lead into halftime
3) fail to make a good run out of the half
4) get flustered at the thought of losing while the underdog continues to play well and gain confidence

I guess in one sense it shouldn’t be too surprising since the Hoyas have been an incredibly mercurial team all year.

by Jason Middlekauff on Mar 18, 2010 9:09 PM EDT reply actions

And now

they’re finally making a bit of a run.

by Jason Middlekauff on Mar 18, 2010 9:14 PM EDT reply actions

Nope

Old Dominion is the best so far…

by UMD2012 on Mar 18, 2010 10:10 PM EDT reply actions

Lehigh was beating Kansas for a few minutes

Starting to predictably fall apart, but it was encouraging.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 10:24 PM EDT reply actions

Don't care what Duke does

but I want the rest of the ACC to play well. So Go Wake!

by GayleG on Mar 18, 2010 10:52 PM EDT reply actions

KU pulling away

Lehigh hasn’t gone away yet, but it’s not looking good.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 11:16 PM EDT reply actions

CJ McCollum is a monster

But Cole Aldrich would kill our front line.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 11:19 PM EDT reply actions

Lehigh just doesn't go away

Kansas can be vulnerable defensively.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 11:29 PM EDT reply actions

Kansas will win it

They’re good, but this has to scare them a little. When they’re focused on offense, they’ll be impossible to stop. But with enough effort, they’re beatable defensively.

by Ben Broman on Mar 18, 2010 11:38 PM EDT reply actions

What a finish to the Wake-Texas game. Hopefully the ACC will continue to rack up wins tomorrow (not including dook, of course)
