Maryland earns 6 entrants into NCAA D-1 Wrestling Championships

After a disappointing ACC Championships, which saw the regular-season champion Terps finish second, the wrestling team had six members earn entry into the NCAA Championships. Full brackets can be found here.

Entries can be earned through achievement during the season, much like the D-1 basketball tournament, with automatic entries for conference champions, and in the ACC's case, finalists. The system isn't quite as straight-forward as the basketball committee's selections, but it's becoming a more transparent process.

Wrestling starts Thursday morning in Omaha, NE. The Terps trying to earn a championships, or at least All-American honors for a top eight placement, are the following:

125 lbs. - (Unseeded) James Knox (SR, 21-11)

133 lbs. - (#9) Steve Bell (SR, 23-5)

141 lbs. - (#8) Alex Krom (SR, 20-5)

149 lbs. - NO ENTRY

157 lbs. - (Unseeded) Kyle John (FR, 29-11)

165 lbs. - (Unseeded) Josh Asper (FR, 31-7)

174 lbs. - NO ENTRY

184 lbs. - NO ENTRY

197 lbs. - (#3) Hudson Taylor (SR, 38-2)

285 lbs. - NO ENTRY

Hudson Taylor has to be considered a legitimate threat for a NCAA championship. He leads Division I in pins and is ending a career as one of the most-highly decorated Terps wrestlers in the program's history. And keep track of Josh Asper - the Maryland public high schools product is beginning a career that may prove to be the equal of Taylor's.

Good to hear, go terps / spret og, all that jazz

Any signs of life from the baseball program? I think they’re like 6 – 9, so that’s progress.

Again though, a great job getting this info to us on a regular basis. _

Is Jerry Angelo fired yet?
Is Vinny Del Negro fired yet?
