Holy ish Kentucky-MSU
Damn, what a finish. OT coming.
Not that familiar with MSU’s profile, but they’re probably in either way with this game.
Second time this year Miss. State has taken UK into overtime. If that coupled with 23 wins doesn’t get you in over VT, I don’t know what does. Long day for the Hokies today.

Does the committee really look at close losses though?
With the 18th pick of the 2010 NFL Draft the Pittsburgh Steelers select Florida QB Tim Tebow. (not a RB!)

Not technically, but they watch games
And they probably watched this one. If they did, no way they weren’t impressed.
by the way bbro

+1
I hate college bball refs sooooo much. i was screaming at my tv during that game. so many calls were going kentucky’s way. it pissed me off so much.

remember vtech and unc last year
playing close doesnt count necessarily

I am going to show myself some love for that prediction.
Gary Williams for President!
Jordan Williams freshman Manbeast
6 seed
…with hopefully Purdue in the 2nd round and Kansas St. in the sweet 16 then Duke in the elite 8. That scenrio would be sweet…only thing better is playing some team that got a upset.
Bracketology
Suck on this Joe Lunardi.
Long morning recovering from a hangover until 6pm, so I did some bracketology. Be interesting to see how close I am in 3 hours. Lemme know what you think.
I have (6) Maryland playing (11) San Diego State in 1st Round followed by the winner of (3) Pitt v. (14) Ohio. With Wisco and Nova as 3 seeds, I don’t see us getting matched with either of those. If we can sneak into a 5 seed with my rankings, the 4 seeds are much weaker than the 3’s.
1 – Kansas, Kentucky, Cuse, Duke
2 – Gtown, OSU, WVU, K State
3 – Pitt, New Mexico, Wisco, Nova
4 – Baylor, Purdue, Temple, Vandy
5 – Butler, Sparty, BYU, Tennessee
6 – Terps, Richmond, Xavier, Texas A&M
7 – Northern Iowa, ND, Zags, UNLV
8 – UTEP, Clemson, Cal, Texas
9 -OK State, FSU, Louisville, Marquette
10 – GT, St. Marys, Cornell, Mizzou
11 – Wake, Utah St., Old Dominion, SD State
12 – Washington, Siena, Murray St., Miss. State
13 – New Mexico State, Minnesota, Oakland, Wofford
14 – Houston, Montana, Sam Houston, Ohio
15 – Morgan St., UCSB, Vermont, North Texas
16 – E. Tenn State, Robert Morris, Lehigh, Play-In Game

Sooo just like to point out just one of the many differences b/t Gary and Paul Hewitt
Gary: 1/1 in ACC Championship Games, 1/1 in NCAA Championship Games
Hewitt: 0/1 in ACC Championship Games, 0/1 in NCAA Championship Games
That is all =)
how does gtown get the higher 2 than WVU?
that must be a mistake right? or are these in no particular order?
that's splitting hairs...lol
the diff. b/e an 9 and an 8 is kinda tough
btw i think cal will surprise people
by tiimbitz4786 on Mar 14, 2010 3:41 PM EDT up reply actions
Mine would be like this..
1. Kansas, Cuse, Kentucky, Duke
2. WVU, Gtown, Kstate, Ohio State
3. Baylor, Nova, Pitt, Wisco
4. Terps, Temple, Mich St, Purdue
5. New Mexico, Vandy, Tenn, Butler
6. Texas, BYU, Xavier, Texas A’M
7. Richmond, Northern iowa, Marquette, Florida State
8. Cal, notre dame, San Diego St, Gonzaga
9. Clemson, GT, Ok St, Louisville
10. Washington, Va Tech, Mizzou, Siena
11. Wake, Minnesota, Old Dominion, UTEP
12. Cornell, UNLV, Murray State, New Mex St
13. Saint Marys, Utah State, Houston, SAm Houston
14. Morgan State, Wofford, Vermont, Oakland
15. Ohio, Montana, Uc SAnta Barbara, North Texas
16. Lehigh, Robert Morris, East Tenn st, Open round game
I just struggle to see the selection committee putting the terps above NM & Tennessee. I think a 5 seed is most probable. Also need a big conference team or two that slip in late in the 12 seeds. They usually plug them there which helps the 12-5 upset.
by moewiththegimpyleg on Mar 14, 2010 4:14 PM EDT up reply actions
doesnt really matter
But i think St Marys will definitely get a higher seed than New Mexico State. Also i dont know what the committee will actually do bu Texas deserves worse than a 6
Assuming a Minnesota loss...
I would give the final two spots to Illinois and Mississippi State. Leave out Florida, Va. Tech, Utah St, and Minnesota.
Latest Lunardi
He supposedly gets tips late in the process. Has Maryland as a 5 against 12 seed Minnesota.
That would be awful news.
I don’t want to play MN (or any other Big 10 team for that matter) in the first round

I wanna file a complaint against you for closing down the other comments section. I needed some entertainment until the selection show.
totally not raven of you.
5's face off against 12's right?
we might have VTech in the first game lol
not possible
conference teams can’t play until regionals
by callmecostanza on Mar 14, 2010 5:06 PM EDT up reply actions
Lunardi
Has us in the Midwest region as a 5 playing (12) Minnesota. And (6) Xavier gets (11) Cornell. This is why I want the 6 seed.
by moewiththegimpyleg on Mar 14, 2010 5:02 PM EDT reply actions
I agree with 6 > 5, but I'm not sure I'd rather have Cornell
Cornell is basically a better version of W&M…and we saw how that turned out. Really good guard play, best 3 point shooting in the nation, and absurdly efficient. We do poorly against that type. That said, they haven’t beaten a single good team all year, so you don’t know how legit they are.
They took Kansas down to the wire in Lawrence.
I’m definitely picking them to upset the higher seed in my brackets.
Duke deserved the #1 seed
but I don’t think they were #3, and I think they’ll be the first #1 to go.
isn't that lg arena commercial
feature the Drew Nicholas shot?
yeah i made a fanpost about it a week ago
thanks for checking it out
like the four seed
but we’re in the hell bracket. Houston/Mich St and then Kansas if we get that far. Sucks.
Totally
I could see any of Kansas, Ohio State, Georgetown, or UMD advancing
by Martin Shatzer on Mar 14, 2010 6:14 PM EDT up reply actions
Seth
Of course he likes MSU over MD.
Happy w/ a 4, not happy w/ being in the same bracket as OSU, Georgetown, and Kansas.
I can already tell
we got the toughest bracket. wanted the Duke bracket with Purdue or new mexico
Uh, most loaded bracket?
I can’t believe we have Ohio State, Kansas, Georgetown, and your kryptonite, Georgia Tech.
If Kansas is the 1 seed overall
Why in hell would they give them the toughest bracket?
cuz they're too good?
haha I know what you mean, dagger for those guys and us as well…but hey, I trust Gary if we get there
Doesn't make any sense
Ohio State > Kansas State
Georgetown > Pittsburgh
Maryland > Vanderbilt
by Martin Shatzer on Mar 14, 2010 6:23 PM EDT up reply actions
Vandy has to beat Murray St & Butler
to get sweet 16
Not so bad
Playing a team that was 19-14 in a weaker league then playing a decent Michigan State team that is beatable. Great chance for the sweet 16.
Why would any competitor want
an easy road. As competitive elite athletes you have to relish the challenge. I know we will be ready. Gary is already watching film.
So many potential Final Four teams
I mean I would not be shocked to see any one of eight teams make the Final Four (Kansas, Maryland, Michigan St., Ohio St, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma State, Tennessee) out of the Midwest. Brutal, brutal draw.
disappointing
If we could have just beat GT then handled NCST no doubt we would have been a 3 seed
Syracuse's bracket is so easy!
We would go to the elite 8 in that bracket at least!
MSU will be interesting
They can be very good or very bad. Beat a very similar team last year, but that doesn’t always mean we’ll win again. Izzo is a great coach, Lucas has the quicks to give GV trouble. Unfortunately, they’re a very good rebounding team: #6 in OReb% in the country. MD will have a challenge in front of them.
That said, they turn the ball over a ton. They’re actually very similar to GT.
Are these guys high?
This bracket is cake compared to ours!
Maybe a stupid question...
But doesn’t the overall top seed usually get the play-in winner?
Just looked at the bracket again
This is ridiculous. This bracket is disgustingly stacked. The other brackets have been pie so far.
I like Louisville over Duke in the second round
Depending which Louisville team shows up.
Look for
FSU to pwn Gonzaga. Alabi will dominate. Also, Kentucky’s 2nd round match-up of either Texas or Wake will be interesting.
Agreed
toughest match-up they’ll have is in the elite eight against nova. Otherwise, a cake walk. Look for Duke in the Final Four
by worldwidewes on Mar 14, 2010 6:39 PM EDT up reply actions
If Louisville plays like they can
They’ll beat Duke round 2
KenPom rank in ()
1 Duke (#1) – Kansas (#2)
2 Villanova (#15) – Ohio State (#8)
3 Baylor (#12) – Georgetown (#11)
4 Purdue (#13 – no Hummel) – MD (#10)
5 TAMU (#24) – Michigan State (#25)
6 Notre Dame (#38) – Tenn (#35)
7 Richmond (#48) – Oklahoma St. (#44)
8 California (#14) – UNLV (#38)
Actually…that’s not as criminal as I first thought.
Let's put it this way... Notre Dame has a solid chance to make the elite 8
they might not make it through the 1st round
apparently
the committee thought Florida took Kentucky to overtime in the SEC final

I wonder
what Seth Greenberg is thinking right now?
by worldwidewes on Mar 14, 2010 6:43 PM EDT up reply actions

Really isn’t that what its all about!
by Martin Shatzer on Mar 14, 2010 6:46 PM EDT up reply actions
#5 in the South would've been amazing
2nd round would be Purdue without Hummell, and then Duke. Why, committee?
Better yet
- seed in the South would have been $$$$
by worldwidewes on Mar 14, 2010 6:53 PM EDT up reply actions
When does CBS tell us what time each game is?
I need to know if I should start working on my fake cough for Friday afternoon or not ;-)
lol
the chair saying they gave duke a lot of credit for winning the conference tourney. what happened to the committee putting less emphasis on how you finish?
It went out the window the same way the seeds did.
Florida? Really?
Now I'm pissed..
They’re getting rid of Luther for One Shining Moment!
Now THAT is just in-excusable
can you guys think of another case where a 10 win ACC team
didn’t make it in? Virginia Tech has to be among the first, if not the only one.
dickie v
he’s so full of it. last year he was whining about not including enough mid majors, now hes pulling the whole ‘put them in a power conference and they wouldnt finish above .500’ line
now hes begging the ncaa not to expand the tournament. kind of ironic considering the hype machine he built is the primary reason the tournament is gonna end up expanding
Why mess with perfection? I really don't ask for much. Just don't F with March Madness.
I know why, the $, but it isn’t good. Lets just let everyone in, and have a 128 teams in the tournament.
Gary Williams for President!
Jordan Williams freshman Manbeast
which of course devalues the regular season
what are the coaches supposed to tell their teams? Come on guys, lets win this game so we can move up from a 28 seed to a 23!!!!
oh i agree
its just funny that vitale is saying it, considering the whole reason that expansion would work is because of the ridiculous hype machine he built at espn
