Around SBN: Miikka Kiprusoff Wins 300th Game, Buffalo Crushes Boston

He told an enraptured class to study hard and to go to college and to get a degree. Vasquez told them that if he goes to the NBA and an injury ends his career after two years, he'll need his degree because basketball won't be an option for him anymore.
...
"I couldn’t believe how good he was with the kids and how much of an impact he really had," Pascucci said. "They all seemed so motivated. Because a lot of the kids in my class – all the boys especially – are big into sports. And to hear him say that, you know, he was telling them: ‘I still go to class. You think I’m some big athlete, but I still have to go to class. I still do homework.’ They were in awe that he actually had to go to class and he actually had to do homework. They couldn’t believe that he was actually a real person aside from being an athlete."

Surprisingly good puff piece on Greivis Vasquez's trip to an elementary school. I like my athletes to be people, too.

CJ Leslie

I heard rumors that he recommitted to NC State. Anybody hear anything definitive?

Haven’t seen/heard it anywhere. Ben might know more though.

IMS

on the board there is a rumor going around. but no one has cited any evidence and i checked cj leslie’s twitter and he didnt mention anything so i am assuming its untrue.

Hopefully it's untrue.

If we landed CJ, we’d be a top 20 team next year, IMO. Without a big name person, I think we’ll be flying under the radar. We could end up in the top 25, but we definitely won’t start there after losing Greivis, Eric and Landon…

Just wondering

Why does a school like NC State get multiple big time recruits either committing there or highly considering there when Maryland hardly does? I know Gary doesn’t usually go as hard for 5 stars and won’t do anything against the rules which I love, but why would higher rated recruits want to go to NC State instead of a better school and basketball team like Maryland? Also with a much better and experienced coaching. I guess specifically thinking of that Ryan harrow? or whoever who committed there and then now possibly CJ for this year (I know NCST would be his home team)
