Virginia Tech
All,
FSU -- 1 loss WAKE -- 1 win CLEMSON -- 1 win
GT -- 1 win BC -- 1 win, 1 loss UVA -- 2 wins UNC -- 1 win, 1 loss NCST -- 2 wins MIAMI -- 1 win, 1 loss They somehow managed to play ALL of the bottom teams twice, and ALL of the potential tournament teams only once. They had the easiest possible ACC schedule. They only have two wins against lock tournament teams, Wake and Clemson, both at home, and lost on the road to BC, UNC and Miami. They did beat GT on the road, but GT might miss the dance. And we all know their OOC schedule was horrible. I don't know, all these sites have them locked up, but I don't think they are a lock. Not all 10-6's are created equal.

To me, 10-6 in the ACC
is 10-6 in the ACC. If Maryland played that schedule and went 10-6 and DIDN’T get in, we’d all be calling bloody murder.
amen to that
seth g. is kinda daringt the cmte to leave him out again with that weak ooc sched. though—-why not schedule a few big boys in ooc—-it would have served them well in conference play as well

I also think the eye test works in their favor
they have a first team all acc player in delaney that could start on any team in the country….
they have a big time post player in allen, and they have some nice role players along side them
big, quick, physical team
they deserve to be in and will win their first round game
I guess so
I guess they are still in at the end of the day. I posted that mostly because I was shocked they managed to play all of the bottom teams twice and all of the top teams only once.
Yeah, I see your point.
I definitely think there are more deserving teams than Virginia Tech (Miss. St, for example), but you can’t argue again V. Tech’s performance in ACC play. For the first half of the ACC schedule, Maryland didn’t have any quality wins, but we were still assumed to be in.
Not all 13-3's are created equal either
If you want to see something else interesting, look at the games Duke played on the road vs. the games we played on the road.
I told you so
I did post this original post before they lost to Miami, but still, VT was NOT a lock. I have to say I told you so.
Still think they deserved to be in.
As did Jay Bilas, and Dick Vitale, and others. Seth Greenberg was a class act though. He called ESPN to weigh in, and handled himself quite well.
My wife is a Hokie
and I still don’t think they deserved to be in. They didn’t have the resume, they beat 1 top 25 team and it was UNC back when they were ranked and we all know how that turned. I root for the Hokies when they are not playing UMD but I still don’t think they deserved to be in. This is not exaggeration, they literally have the worst OOC SOS in the history of the NCAA tourney. I am all for scheduling a couple cupcakes but come on. And to all those people who say they were 4th in ACC… look at the losses, they didn’t beat anyone above them and beat up on the low seeds of ACC. I feel bad for their fans but I think Greenburg (who I love as a coach) is to blame for this. If he scheduled even top 200 teams for the OOC i think they make it easy.
