Terps vs. UCLA circa 1982 on ESPN Classic
I was just flipping through the channels and saw that ESPN U is showing the Terps vs. UCLA basketball game from 1982. The game just went into OT. On the TV guide, it has the game going until 11:00, so there might be a second OT before the game is decided. I couple of interesting facts about the game:
1. The teams agreed to do a home-away-home-away series and part of the terms were that they'd play without a shot clock and that there would be no 3 point baskets. Very interesting.
2. Not sure who wins this game, I want to actually watch it without knowing, but UCLA came in with some sort of winning streak I think.
3. Terps are wearing the money yellow uniforms. It just makes me even happier that they brought those babies back into the fold.
4. Bias is a reserve on the team.
Enjoy what's left of the game!

Yellow unis
Love them so much. We need to throw back to the Natty jerseys, too, and bring those yellows out every once in awhile.
BTW, I’d love to set up a 4 year series w/ UCLA right now.
Great Game
That was an awesome game. I sat right behind the basket and we all thought that Jeff Adkins shot at the end of regulation was going in!!!
Huh..no shot clock?
What’s to stop a team from making one bucket and then holding the ball for the remaining 39 minutes?
And thus, you have been introduced the philosophy of Dean Smith
4 corners offense. Dean Smith pioneered it. I remember (not personally, but my dad told me about it and I’ve read about it) the 1982 ACC Championship game. UNC held the ball for the final 12 minutes of the game, won by a couple. I just can’t fathom watching a basketball game where one team just holds on to the ball.
