Roy Williams:The case of a coach-Part One

This past week, since the basketball season is coming up and all, I thought I'd do some research. This research was on Roy Williams, the current coach at the University of North Carolina. I looked at how he fares as a coach and a recruiter, here's what I found.

Since 2004, in games decided by 5 points or less, Roy Williams' record is 14-38, that's 14 wins and 38 losses. Gary Williams' record in that same time span is 45-23, that's 45 wins and 23 losses. Roy Williams' had one season in this time span in which he went winless in games decided by 5 points or less and had 7 losses. Gary Williams' has not had a losing record in games decided by 5 points or less and Roy Williams has had only 2 WINNING seasons in that span. Gary Williams' worst record in this time span, 5-2, would be the 2nd best record that Roy Williams would have. Roy Williams may have the advantage in recruiting, but is it really him or is it just the "North Carolina" recruiting pitch that is fairly easy to use. I will have more on this tomorrow covering more topics and having more facts that show that Roy Williams is NOT a very good coach.
