Maryland Minute - 11.15.10 - Is That a Buzz About Football I Hear?
I can't remember the last time there was this much buzz surrounding a Maryland football game. This is the biggest game MD has played in football in a while. And I think it's a telling sign for Ralph Friedgen - if they can't sell out Byrd for this game, against FSU, Saturday night, black out, on ABC, then short of an ACC title, it's going to be hard getting sell outs at Byrd anytime again while Ralph is there. In case you're on the fence about going, check this out:
A big win for Friedgen, in more than one way - D1scourse.com
Not sure if we linked to this in the past, but I thought it was worth doing because of the detail Stevens goes into about Ralph's dislike of Virginia. Ralph, I'm pretty sure this is one issue where the fan base is 100% behind you.

Adams comes up big on short gains for football - The Diamondback - Sports
Nice piece on D.J. Adams. His emergence could spell trouble for Da'Rel...
On The Mark: Week 10 - ESPN
1. Torrey Smith, Maryland Smith caught seven passes for 157 yards with one touchdown, helping the surprising Terps move to 7-3 with a 42-23 win at Virginia. Nice. Props to sleteach for catching this and posting a fanshot about it.
Maryland-N.C. State gets six-day optioned - D1scourse.com
Shocking. Basically, beat FSU and this game is on ESPN at 8:00, maybe we a College Game Day appearance as well. That would be sweet.

They'll play the winner of Bucknell and Pennsylvania on Sunday at 5:00 at Ludwig Field. If you're free, go check it out.
The Toy Department: Gary Williams: give Maine some respect - baltimoresun.com
Gary doesn't think we gave Maine enough respect. I would have given them more respect if they came out before the game and each player said "I'm from Maine and no one can beat me!"

This is the only time you'll ever see me give props to the Crazies. Nice gesture. Now I'll go back to disliking you.

The NCM reference
It’s too much. My friends and I still shout I’m from Maryland no one can beat me! at inappropiate times.

I had to do it
NCM was too good. I still hate that the Dookies called him “two names, no game” even though NCM and his class went 4-5 against Duke, which is pretty damn good. And he dropped 21, 25, and 22 on them in 3 of those games. And in the game he dropped 25 on them, he also had 5 boards, 3 assists and 4 steals…and it was at Duke, who was #2 at the time. I hate the crazies so much.
I agree with you
I burst out laughing at the ’I’m from Maine’ comment you made. It just brought back good memories from my senior year at MD. And he DID have good games against dook. That much can be said about that group of Terps.
I hate to burst your bubble but we aren't getting gameday next week
IF we were going to get it, it had to be this week because many of the top teams are off or playing nobodies this week.
Next weekend, we would be up against LSU-Arkansas, Auburn-Alabama, Oklahoma-Oklahoma State, Kansas-Missouri (border war), notre dame- usc.

maybe but
the LSU game is meaningless in the SEC race as is Auburn(although prob gonna be a great game). Kansas game is also meaningless even if it is a rivalry, and neither USC nor ND deserve to be seen on gameday. Oklahoma-Ok State has a chance cuz I think it still might have meaning in the big 12. But if we beat FSU and NCSU beats UNC, both of us would be ranked around 20ish so I think we would have a good shot at gameday plus I don’t think they have came to an ACC school this year
Yeah, except
no one cares about ACC football. Everyone wants to watch Big 12 or SEC.
I mostly agree
90% sure it’ll be OK-OKSt. Two really good teams, really good rivalry. Past that, though, none of those games are as strong as they may seem on paper. LSU-Ark is pointless and “just another SEC stop” for most of the country. Already been to Tuscaloosa. Kansas is unbelievably terrible. Both Notre Dame and USC have been irrelevant this year.
MD would need to bodyslam FSU for this game to get Gameday. If we really want to get Gameday, it’s not that hard: just become a top 25 team. If we were semi-consistently top 25, we’d get Gameday within two years. Book it.
for the record...
The Auburn-Alabama game will be the best match-up of the of year outside of the bcs title game (hopefully). So Gameday already having been to Alabama wouldn’t mean anything. The only reason Gameday won’t go to the Iron bowl is because it falls on Black Friday and I think they like to stick with the Saturday ritual.
Also Gameday has already proven it will go to pointless but hyped rivalries like usc-notre dame. (see last week: ohio st v penn st or the stupid wrigley field game this week)

I'm pretty sure...
…they won’t go to one site more than once/year. I could be wrong, but I think that’s a rule they have…
Those all black camo uni's are the SHIT!!!!! Plus this is the biggest game of the year!
After we beat FSU then the next game is the most important! FOCUS MD FOCUS. An opportunity to win the ACC Championship is fucking amazing considering where they were last year. Moten and Wo-jack, lead the TROOPS!!!
