Look, I know if the story is accurate that JOB committed to LSU its not what a true Maryland fan wants to hear. Including me. The more and more recruiting becomes mainstream on ESPN, Rivals and all other media outlets the more we anticipate the decisions of kids. Remember there are over 300 Division I programs in college basketball and we are one that can say, we are as consistantly a Top 25 program as any other program out there. That in its self is an accomplishment. Gary is one of, if not the best "true" coaches out there. Gary develops players and constructs teams out of individuals more then any coach I've seen in my era.
There is no need to panic. Ben B. said it the best, we popped on JOB radar late and made an obvious connection with him since we finished second. We beat out a bunch of schools that were all over him a lot earlier then MD. There are several legit recruits left. I like our chances for Baru, Faust, Lewis, Space, Hubert and Langford. Remember all he did was verbally commit, if any fan base should know something about verbals it should be us from last year...thanks to T. Ross. Until any player signs on the dotted line its only a verbal agreement which can be broken without penalty.
Have faith in the staff, Bmore hoops recruiting was down this year compared to years past and future. Bino is new to the staff and is getting reconnected with old pipelines and learning how Gary does business. Gary doesnt sell the program out by sacrificing integrity for results. I would rather have a clean program with 3 and 4 star recruits as to be sitting around my house watching ESPN and hear about MD being investigated like Tennessee, USC, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Indiana and many others.
Bottom line I want recruits that want to be here and think Maryland is #1. If a player has second thoughts or is hesitant on committing to MD then go else where. I want a team that thinks College Park is the greatest BBall place on earth and is willing to bust it on the court for himself, his team and the fans.
GIBBS, FAUST, LEWIS and BARU. Count on it.
