Maryland Minute 1.31.10 - Things to Take Your Mind Off the Clemson Game

Maryland Offers Haukur Palsson, a 6-6 Icelander
First off, I really don't feel comfortable linking to a site that talks about premium info, particularly because they do it a lot. But whatever, they did it and it's already been talked about, so it's worth mentioning.

There's a decent amount of info on Palsson. He looks like a high-upside kind of guy. Even if he doesn't work out on the floor, at least Maryland will have another talking point. Useful links for learning: ESPN articleEuroHopes profile"hometown" paper article.

Jordan Williams Sprains His Ankle, Should Be Fine
He was legit tonight. When he came out of the game I just about had a heart attack.

Terrell Stoglin Profile from AZStarNet
Good piece on Stogs. He has the ability to be a cold-blooded killer. Doesn't sound like Maryland was his first choice, but whatever.

Maryland Football Banquet Awards
Hartsfield was Freshman of the Year. The most intriguing things, though: Scout Team Players of the Year. They were DeOnte Arnett (encouraging) and Clay Belton (surprising and interesting).

Tyler Smith Shines in USA vs. The World Game
Sounds good.

Quarterback Tyler Smith (Wilson Area HS, Pa.) went to work immediately, hooking up on a spectacular 50-yard pass downfield that Josh Reese (Miami Central, Fla.) would have taken all the way to pay dirt but for a saving tackle by Dylan Hollohan (St. Francis Xavier) at the 1-yard mark.

Clarence Murphy and Titus Till apparently had quiet days. Bjoern Werner blocked a kick, though..

Terrell Skinner is a "Name to Keep an Eye On"
This too sounds good.

Terrell Skinner, Maryland, FS: A bal anced safety who is pro jected any where between the 3–5 rounds.  With Sensabaugh adding some secu rity at safety I think Skinner could really trans form into a good rangy safety.  At the Senior Bowl this past week end Skinner played well mak ing his pres ence felt on the field.

when i clicked on “Maryland Offers Haukur Palsson, a 6-6 Icelander” is goes to TERPTALK which is not a premium site. if you use something from another site give them credit. they give terrapinestimes credit for the story and acknowledge eurohoops for info on the player.

I did, by linking them

But that information wasn’t for public consumption because it was premium information at another site (TT). As a blogger, that’s usually rule #1 – don’t steal info. Even if he gave credit, it’s still information that usually needs to be paid for.

Now, if TTK is okay with it, then it’s cool. But if he’s not, it’s objectionable.

Dante Holmes

Had 23 last night vs Mt St Joe’s the #1 team in Baltimore….after seeing our guard play last night is there any reason the Terps aren’t going after him?

Pe'Shon ruled him out

I’d still love to have him, but 3 guards in the same class creates spacing issues. We bet on Pe’Shon, and I’m happy we have him, but we need to keep some semblance of roster balance.
