A source close to the situation tells us that Maryland "shouldn’t even be on [Terrence Ross'] list, because there’s no way he’s going there at this point."
Via High School Hoop.
Kind of had this feeling when he decommitted. I'd prefer he just rule us out publicly, though, assuming this is correct (not guaranteed, of course).

Wish TR all the best
Hopefully TR will do what works out best for him. I personally believe UMD is best for him, but if he chooses coach Krybaby TR will be with a team that has played soft the past 5 years. Go to crooked Cal, and you have a nice chance of a vacated Final Four appearance with no chance of a NC with his bad luck.
If you want to have a successful NBA career, well GW has pumped out better pros as a whole package than either JC or Kryer… Plus, GW is 3rd in ACC wins behind UNC and Puke since the UMD ban was lifted in the early 90s. TR could lead the charge to takin’ UNC and Puke out…
Wish TR all the best. He should talk to Keith Booth some more and see what it felt like to be the key recruit that carried on W Williams’ legacy in the 90’s. I was there and loved every minute of it. BTW, Wojo blows…
Like I said
If he wanted to be here then he would have never decommited. We don’t need him anyway. I like the direction this program is going and we will be one of ACC’s for the next couple of years…
Agree with ATLredskin
True, if Ross wanted to be here he would. Lets forget him until next year when we see him on the court at Comcast for Dook. We need to move on and add a shot blocking front court wing, who can sky. Then I believe we will be in real good shape. Peshon is a solid addition, I have watched him grow his game over the last couple of years. Things are looking up, so lets just keep it that way, move on from the dead wood " ROSS" and add to the stable. Gary will get them to play together.
New Targets
I like this Juvonte Reddic guy, also I think we are going to have another scholarship open up and we should sign Josh Langford too. He’s 6’6’’ which is what I’ve always liked about TRoss. We need some legit height at the SG position and this guy dropped some major points.
Big is corrrect
Reddic has hops that would be great to have. Jordan Williams is great but could use a swatter next to him. And Langford looks like a baller. Those six guys would make a very solid class.
This is bogus info
Got it straight from the horses mouth (a.k.a. Stu Vetter) that Maryland still leads…
he is definately in on the recruiting and all the ins and outs and wouldn’t say that if it weren’t true…he would say “maryland is still in there etc.”
really this is just an example of the negative recruiting, some a-hole from Duke or Kentucky can just contact some low level blogger and say they have inside info and he’ll print it…it’s simple as that
The horses mouth...
is not Stu Vetter here. It’s Ross himself, or perhaps his mom. When the rumors of Ross decommiting were swirling around, Vetter insisted that he was committed to MD and we had nothing to worry about. Vetter was wrong and Ross decommited. I believe Vetter wants Ross at MD and wants Ross to honor his commitment, but he certainly is not in control of this recruitment. I’m taking the actions and words of Terrence over that of Vetter, any day.

question
Im just as upset as the next person. He went from a top 100 player to a top 30 player working with our coaching staff and playing pickup with our team dring the summer season. He clearly is alot better so with the information, does that not carry wait in his decision to possibly commit again? He see what he can become?
Mychal Parker
Since Ross recruited Parker to join him at UMD, does anyone know information about what Parker thinks of this whole situation? Beyond us just speculating that he’s pissed off about possibly being stabbed in the back?
Not negative
just a realist. Once again, if Terps are in the lead for T Ross then why is it that his mom sends an email. If he was that close to the program and was any type of stand up person he would have made contact. Played pickup with team members and hangs out with the fellows. Then there is the problem of no contact with Parker or Stoglin from what I can see , after being boys for sometime before changing his mind. Another thing from my point of view. If Vetter has so much knowledge and mentors the young man, then he needs to try the best he can to right this wrong. He can start with teaching the young man the right way to decommit. Man up and make a phone call and don,t hide behind mom,s skirt. Once again, I am not being negative, just putting it all together from what I can see. T ROSS at least hit your boys up and man up!!!
The best and probably only thing to do is forget about this until the spring. Why be concerned what “this source” or “that source” says. Nothing is going to happen until spring. On what one would hope is a positive note, Vetter was pretty mad at him for going back on his word and I’m sure Vetter still has some influence over him. And if he goes somewhere else, so be it. It’s not like he is a dominating big man or a 5 star point guard. Remember Mike Jones the “2nd best” guard behind L. James? He wasn’t that good when he got college and he was rated # 2. Trust me losing Ross, if Maryland does is nothing like the loss Maryland had after Moses Malone committed and then turned pro.
Also what does it matter what Parker, Stoglin and others think about Ross. They have signed and have no other place to go unless they want to sit out a year.
i think
he meant if they talk smack about Ross now. Cuz Parker came and basically said “decommiting is his decision. theres nothing i can do about it. i just need to worry about myself and improve my game.” —→ basically what he said. i’ll try and find the quote later. Stoglin also said that Tross had been keep in less touch with him in the weeks leading up to the decommitment.

Parker
Thanks word2bigbird, that’s what I was getting at. Was just wondering since Ross and Parker were supposedly close, if Parker knew anything about the situation that the media doesn’t. Also tiimbitz4786, just because Vetter says we’re still in the lead, it really wouldn’t make sense for him to say anything else to the contrary at this time.
On a separate note, what are the chances of UA basketball getting involved at some point with Montrose Christian and displacing Nike there? That would only benefit the MC/UMD pipeline from what it already is now.
Heres what he said
Parker’s comments on Ross
Parker has heard the rumors/speculation regarding Terps commitment Terrence Ross.
“I haven’t talked to Terrence recently, so I am not really sure what is going on,” said Parker. “It’s all pretty much rumors as far as I know, and I doubt anything will be resolved until their (Montrose Christian) season is over. I’m not really worried about it though. It’s really his business, not mine. I would love for him to be at Maryland with me, but each player has to do what is in their best interest. I don’t plan on getting involved with it. People have been asking me about it, but again, I am not going to try and convince him to do anything. It’s his choice. If he wants to be at Maryland, then I expect he will be.”

What a classy young man.
I’d take him over TRoss any day now. Parker seems like the type of guy that would make Maryland sports fans proud.
Parker
So that was before Ross officially decommitted then. I think I did read that somewhere previously. Just never gave it much weight since nothing was official yet.
