Around SBN: Clippers Need To Realize That Spurs Are The Anti-Grizzlies

Fun quote from last year, "I love Sean Mosley...but he can't hit a layup to save his life." True story. Quoth a certain more forward commenter: "Mosley couldn't hit the side of a barn with a basketball."

Things have changed a lot.

Interesting stat.

I followed the link and looked up some other statistics. I noticed something that really spoke to the value of having Adrian Bowie on the floor (specifically on the defensive end). He leads the ACC in steal percentage, a measure of how many of the opponents possessions end with a steal by the player while he was on the floor. Check it out, and see what other interesting stats you guys can find.

nobody

in the top 7 for FT%. Thats really bad for us in big games down the stretch.

Hayes?

He is shooting over 90% for the season I think. Also, Vasquez, Mosely, and Milbourne were all in the top 19 (top 20 if you include Hayes). Seems like a strength to me if 4 of 5 starters are in the top 20.

must be a problem with the site (unless there is some minimal number of attempts and he has not reached it yet)

Greivis and Landon have both dropped a bit from last year (Landon’s FT% is down nearly 10 points). If they can stabilize closer to last year’s numbers, and Mosley continues to hit in the 75-80% range, it shouldn’t be an issue for us. Especially in those late-game situations, where GW will almost invariably have a lineup of GV-EH-SM-LM-DG. That’s a very good FT-shooting lineup.

Mosley

really improved this off -season. He’s been taking a lot smarter shots this year.

We are a better team when Greivis DOES NOT shoot often.

If he creates shots for others like he did in the first half of the NC State, we are an incredibly efficient team offensively. He is the worst field goal shooter from our starting five, so if he can find good shots for others, our team will be better off and continue to be successful.

This is not to say Greivis shouldn’t shoot. I am just suggesting that he needs to continue to be wary of his shot selection, as he was against NC State.
