"We tried to get Greivis coming off the inbounds pass with a handoff. He was supposed to go, and there were two guys on him and I guess he didn't see anybody open so he took the shot. You want to put the ball in the hands of your best player if you can in that situation. At least, I do. He's been clutch his whole career, he's made the big shots, he's done a lot of things."

GV

Didn’t he have 30 last night. I would want him to have the ball. You make some, you miss some, but I will take GV anyday.

I am only going to say this once, and then quote it all next season and the season after: Those of you who complain about GV today would give your left arm to have him on the team in the future. “you don’t know what you got till its gone”

Vaz was 9 for 27 from the field.

When you take 27 shots, you should hopefully have more than 30 pts. Off night shooting for Vaz. Should have penetrated and dished to Eric or someone else for a better shot.

But I am a Vaz lover, and I don’t fault him at all.

True, but...

He also had 7 assists and 4 rebounds…he did have a really low field goal % but he also came through with some serious scoring at the times we most needed it. I’m obviously not saying he is without fault, but he is pretty much the main reason we are competitive right now. If we didn’t have him, where would we get the bulk of our scoring from?

And how many turnovers?

7, to answer that question.

Greivis is vital to the success of the team, yes. But he has a tendency to force shots in certain situations that he has no business taking (early in the shot clock with a hand in his face). He sometimes forces the issue too much, getting the team into trouble. Several of his TOs and missed shots led to easy Wake baskets on the other end.

I’m extremely proud of the way the team performed last night, but I’m just a little worried that Greivis is taking on too much of the load. This isn’t last year. We have a better supporting cast (i.e. same old Milbourne, more consistent Hayes, improved Mosley, JWill), so Greivis doesn’t need to carry the team on his back AS MUCH as he did last year.

P.S.

I’m not blaming Greivis in any way. I love the kid.

And I’m not saying he doesn’t trust his teammates, because he most certainly does.

I just think he perceives his role on the team as bigger than it actually needs to be.
