You can't fumble. If he fumbles, you're not going to see him in the game. He lays the ball on the ground, he's not going to play. It's as simple as that. You lose games when you fumble the ball. It doesn't matter what your stats are. You lose games. That's the stat I'm worried about.

What...the...[expletive]. That explanation is ridiculously half-baked. Ralph, this is after the fumbles have occurred and he's your best player in a two point game. If he's in the game, it never gets to 4th and 2.
So frustrated.

Fumbles were huge
Maryland will not win any game this year when they commit as many as four turnovers. We simply don’t have that kind of margin of error. In fact, I don’t think we will win any games remaining on our schedule if we are negative in turnover margin.
So I can understand benching him, but it did seem counterproductive. Meggett didn’t fumble, but he tipped a pass high which was intercepted. I was sitting right behind the Maryland bench, and could tell Scott was despondent after the fumbles. The head coach needs to show he still has faith in the player who should be one of the cruxes of the offense (equally important in my mind as Turner and Smith).
Either way, it was the coaching staff that lost this game in the end. They were lucky to have made the earlier FG that just squeaked in, but instead of going for it on 4th and 2, and sealing the game by being able to run out the clock, they stupidly called for a field goal, which was missed. I don’t know what game they were watching, but betting on the defense was not a gamble I would have taken. And justifiably so, given the result.
