Testudo Times' Week Two BlogPoll Ballot

I threw this together somewhat quickly, so it's up to you guys to tell me who I missed. And I'm pretty sure I missed at least one team.

RankTeamDelta
1 Florida
2 Southern Cal 1
3 Alabama 1
4 Texas 2
5 Penn State 1
6 California 2
7 Brigham Young 4
8 LSU 2
9 Boise State 4
10 Mississippi 3
11 Virginia Tech 3
12 Oklahoma 5
13 Georgia Tech 2
14 Ohio State 5
15 Nebraska 1
16 TCU 2
17 Kansas 2
18 Utah 3
19 Michigan
20 Notre Dame 8
21 Oklahoma State 16
22 Miami (Florida) 2
23 Georgia
24 Cincinnati
25 Houston
Last week's ballot

Dropped Out: Oregon State (#22), North Carolina (#24), Tennessee (#25).

Star-divide

  • USC beat a legit OSU team, Matt Barkley showed he can win games, and Joe McKnight continues to impress. That's why they're #2.
  • I'm just a week late getting Alabama above Texas. Forgot to do that last week.
  • BYU won't lose a game this year. They're a great team, and Max Hall is a legit QB.
  • Bad loss for Oklahoma State. Not only did they lose, but they got lit up. I don't have much confidence in them.
  • Technically, UNC won. But they looked terrible and only got the W off a holding call in the endzone for a safety. That shouldn't even count.
  • Meanwhile, Michigan and Cincy debut this week. Michigan had the win over ND, but ND is still right there. The game was great and it's clear the Irish are a great team. I'm still not 100% sold on Michigan as a top 15 team, but they definitely deserve top 25 status.
  • Feel free to let me know what I screwed up on.

Ole Miss...

Moved down three for a bye week? Ouch. Or maybe it was the swine fly.

"it's clear the Irish are a great team."

Uh, based on what? NBC and ESPN telling us they are? Losing to a 7 – 5 Michigan team?

Georgia too, I’m not sure what they’ve done to be in there apart from be there in the past, which is not what this is supposed to be about.

I’d have Cincinnati a little higher, but it’s a solid poll apart from those three selections.

"We're only gonna score 17 points? Hah hah" - some clown.

Notre Dame tore apart Nevada and came damn close to beating an impressive Michigan squad – they’ll be better than 7-5 this year. I’m a believer right now.

Georgia’s 1-1 – no, neither were impressive, but I’m not going to drop a team I had in my top 20 out after a loss to a top 10 team (at the time). Also, who would be in there ahead of them? Pitt is the only school I can make a case for, and I’d bet on Georgia if the two went head-to-head.

I do agree that Cincy should move up a few spots, at least pass Georgia, looking back on it. I’ll make that change on the official one.
