Under Armour Continues Grassroots Basketball Dominance
Under Armor has been dipping its feet in the basketball market for a while now, and they implemented the next phase today: a deal with that little school in Brooklyn, Lincoln High. The same school that produced such phenoms as Stephon Marbury, Sebastian Telfair, and, yes, Lance Stephenson, will now be outfitted with their own Under Armor shoe, completely customized. Deals with fellow NY HSs Boys & Girls – home of Terps 2011 target Mike Taylor, who I want – and Jefferson have also been hammered out.
The quicker UA becomes a serious contender in the consumer basketball shoe business, the quicker Maryland can use it as a serious draw. And the relations they're building with high schoolers can only help, too.
