Ersin Levent

Have you guys heard about this 6' 7" walk-on kid from Landon who has been practicing and playing pickup with the team and works out with Milbourne's Dad. He is tall and lanky, shoots really well for a big man with a high release and can finish at the rim with a dunk or a layup. He has a really high GPA which would look good for Maryland's team. Let me know if you know anything.

so...

is he currently enrolled at UMD?

Definitely

I’ve heard rumors of this kid on campus. He definitely attends UMD, so I assume he would walk-on. If there’s a spot open, it would be awesome to see what he can do. Maybe his high academic IQ will transfer over to a high basketball IQ…

yeah, i played with this kid on the club team. he’s not terribly athletic, but the kid can shoot from outside. he’s pretty lanky, but he uses his size well, and has been hittin the weights a lot. i know he was working hard all school year, and i assume he stepped up his workouts over the summer, but what he really is right now is a huge 2. he doesnt like to bang inside all that much, unless he has a big height advantage. although he is athletic, he was saying how the players on the team are a lot more so…as a friend i hope he makes the team, but i dont think he would contribute really if he did

Pearman

I give him props for walking on and making the team and respect what he did by giving up his scholarship but lets be honest he isn’t D 1 talent. Levent definitely has more upside and is a better player.

I played with him on the club team as well and I know he busts his ass so actually making the team wouldn’t be a complete surprise to me either. He certainly has the height and the work ethic and he’s been playing pick up with the team for a while now. His grades are good too so that can’t hurt, especially on a team where the grad rate was 0 a few years ago.

Men's League

I heard he is playing in a Mens League in Rockville at the Rockville Sports Plex where he is putting up over twenty points a game and over ten rebounds. Grant it some of the competition is up and down but regardless the kid is obviously very dedicated and working hard on trying to make it at the next level.

Has what it takes

I’ve actually been honored to play some pick-up ball with Ersin, and while he might not have a big impact on the team if he makes it, he definitely has the right mentality and attitude to play for Gary and enough skill to hold his own at the d-1 level. I know I’ll be pulling for him.

Interview

I got in touch with Levent. Let me know if anyone would like me to interview and ask him a few questions, And if so leave me some questions to ask him.
