CJ Leslie
On terrapintimes.com they have a story on CJ Leslie. I don't have a subscription but what I could tell from what was given was that he really respects MD's history and remembers Len Bias and loved his game. Maybe this could help us get him because he would realize Gary knows how to handle power forwards. Him JWill, Padgett, possibly Jones and Pilgrim we could have the best big men in the country. It also says there is a new 2011 target, does anyone have an idea who its is, maybe Cj Barksdale, or one of those new targets from the scout and rivals rankings. Lastly does anyone have an update on Shakim Phillips, apparently we've got a pretty good shot at getting him, is he going to visit?

Leslie talks about Bias a lot
He always mentions that he likes Len Bias, all he knows about Maryland is Len Bias, so on and so forth. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s a bit weird for a teenage high schooler to really know that much about Bias, at least one that grew up in Carolina. But that could be a pro for us – if he has dreams of being the next Bias, he may want to do it at Maryland.
Barksdale is a possibility, as is Jabari Brown (we were listed on Scout, I believe).
I’ve also heard we have a good shot at Phillips, I’d be surprised if we didn’t get him on campus somehow, whether it’s a camp or a legit visit. He’s not a lock or even a probability, but the way our recruiting is going, he’s one of our better bets.
i believe
that the 2011 recruit is Damontre Harris, he is a 6’9 forward out of Fayeteville, NC. He must be pretty good because he attended the NBPA Top 100 Camp.
Do you think we will get any recruits for 2010 over the summer?
If so, who. I think TJones and JD weatherspoon
do u know this is
waverly Austin is a player in 2010 class. On collegehoops.net it says that MD is interested but hasn’t offered. Do you know anything about him?
Austin came to the Terps Elite Camp, IIRC
I’m not sure, but I think he did. I know I’ve seen his name connected with the Terps before. He’s got some work to do to be a high major, and even with a huge senior year, I’d rather have Jon Graham.
Highly doubt we get both, if either
I’d love to get either, but we’re going up against the heavies here. Don’t count it as a certainty to end up with one. I think we ultimately will end up with 1 or 2 of our top targets, but don’t get cocky.
Anyway, there’s almost no chance we get both. Both want to play the 3. The second that the first commits, the other will probably cross Maryland off the list.
Personally, Weatherspoon or Jones would seem the most likely, but neither have been on campus. If they get on campus anytime soon, then probably one of them. Otherwise, it’s a crapshoot.
yea, but...
Parker named us as his top team and i really don’t like weathearspoon, he is a bad version of ross
no
he is inconsistent and not a great shooter, we don’t need someone who can do high flying dunks, what we need is just good overall players that fit Gary’s system
Everyone plays a role
As enticing as it sounds, a team full of scorers doesn’t always work out. Weatherspoon plays great defense, is athletic, hard-working, and has some amazing dunks. He could play a good role here. No, he shouldn’t be our #1 target, but there’s nothing wrong w/ taking him. Those dunks are game-changers – how many times has the tide of a game turned after an amazing dunk? Off the top of my head, the Trevor Booker putback in the Clemson game took us completely out of that game. Actually, Weatherspoon reminds me of a skinnier Booker.
He’s definitely not a poor man’s Ross, they are completely different players.
Parker's timetable
He doesn’t want to decide until spring. We may be the top team right now, but that can change and, while he could still commit early, it’s not his intent and doesn’t look likely. Unless he feels the need to commit right away, he’ll probably stick with his plan and wait it out.
