Final- West 110-113 East
The East Boys All-American team came back to win a high scoring and high flying game. The Georgia Tech signee Derrick Favors led the East with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Local boy Dante Taylor and Pitt recruit chipped in 15 points.
- There seemed to be a lot of turnovers among these All-stars. Every fast break seemed to end in a miss placed pass or bad desicion. But i guess that comes with only a few days practice with new teammates.
- The big men in this years contest were really impressive. Along with being able to control the boards, alot of them were able to hit long jumpers and the occasion three ball with ease. The one play that stands out was Keith Gallon (Oklahoma) a 6'9" 300 pounder hitting a sweet three in the first half.
-Maryland target Lance Stephenson had a ok game. Nothing spectacular. He looked a little off on alot of his shots, going 4-10. One that stood out was a wide open three he missed in the second half. He really looked fustrated out there. He did however impress me on the assists he made, including a pretty lob to Cousins for a monster dunk.
- You could tell by the score that this was a high scoring game, but i was surprised by the lack of defense in this game. Players just waiting for rebounds to come to them, only to have an opponent come out of no where with the putpack. No one seemed to attempt defense on fast break plays, just looking to get the ball back on offense.
- It was cool to see Xavier Henry diving on the floor for a loose ball in the first half. He is rated #1 (ESPN) and it showed how much he wants to win. He could also be the one that drives Lance to Maryland by way of Xavier going to Kansas.
