Greivis Vasquez's Performance
Is it the best ever for a Terp? Evidence:
- 35 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists
- 3rd triple-double in Maryland history
- Scored first 16 points for Maryland
- Led team to victory over #3 team in nation
- Hit several clutch shots (2 OT free throws, a 3-pointer with 1:15)
- Most points in a triple-double in NCAA since 96-97
A simply incredible performance by Vaz. The pride in his face was heartwarming - I nearly cried at the end of the game after the court was stormed. He grew up in this game - early in the game, he had a smile after a good play, even though the Terps were winning. Late in the game, he was much more determined, and when they stormed the court, he wasn't jumping around - he was standing there, triumphant, proud. God, it was good to see.
Is it the best Maryland performance ever?

Three words: 1986 DEAN DOME
Len Bias had 35 points in beating Dean Smith in the Dean Dome for UNC’s first home loss in that building in 1986.

Close
But GV had as many points and had a triple-double. I understand the importance of that game, and no one will ever forget that play, but Greivis was just incredible today. Maryland isn’t even close without him playing the way he did. He carried the team, and it could get Maryland into the tourney (and therefore save Gary’s job for another two years). Very close, bu I side with GV’s performance.
It was actually the 3rd tripple double in UMD history
You put 2nd. Derrick Louis did it twice in 1987
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.
