News and Notes: Coaching, Recruiting, and More

Lots of little hits today:

  • Terp Center ended up getting an interview with Lance Stephenson Sr., who's obviously BR's father. It's a pay link, so I can't divulge the information, but know this: it's very, very positive. The recruitment may get very interesting soon. Also, know that Gary and Co. pulled out all the stops. If he ends up at SJU, it's not because of the visit, that's for sure.
  • I maintain that an aggresive Eric Hayes would be the perfect sixth man, and it appears Patrick Stevens agrees. Gary seems to really like EH; at least, the quotes in the article indicate that.
  • Maryland women's basketball has disappointed a bit this year, but were able to hold on against Boston College to get a close win. That's three in a row and 6 of 7 for the Lady Terps, who might sneak into the Top 10 this week.
  • Forestville has been good to Maryland football recently. Both Kevin Dorsey and DeOnte Arnett were 4 star recruits from Forestville and both ended up at Maryland. Maybe there's another in their future? MDVarsity reports that Maryland has offered Forestville WR Antonio Belt a scholarship. Belt seems to be a pretty good prospect, and the connection to Forestville can only be a good thing.
  • Antonio Sibilia, a linebacker from New Jersey, took a trip down to College Park over the weekend. He, like Belt, looks promising, but I think Maryland will see if they have a real chance with Nick Forbes before going after Sibilia hard. It is interesting to see him visiting this early, though.
