I've talked to a half-dozen boosters who have said they knew of no private efforts to raise money to buy out [Friedgen's] contract. Of course, they can't rule out that the university might come up with the funds on its own if Friedgen were let go.
The pendulum swings back? The University can't come up with all the money on its own, but it's possible that they're getting the dough from a few high-level guys.

I can say
that the boosters are sharply divided at least in their posts on the TT alumni board…
it seems however that the power structure of the MGN is still with Ralph…though there are some charter members who are now on record as vehement opponents
moreover there is strong resentment towards the boosters who are speaking to the press
