Talking to Tobias

http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/photo.php?pid=30394959&id=1336860411

So last night at the game Tobias sat right in front of us and seemed to have a great time. Him and his brothers laughing at the the things the MD fans were yelling. We got them involved in the paper shaking before the game. Had a convo bout how much he liked the Len BIas movie and his dad seems like he wants him to go here.  His dad took a pic with his phone with him in my "Fear the TOBIAS 2010" shirt. I have a much better feeling that we will get Tobias after last night.

So glad to hear you made him feel comfortable. All we can hope is that (1) he wants to come here as much as we want him to come (2) he is the kind of kid who loves a demanding coach and working hard (seems to be the case) (3) there is family support for MD (4) he wants to be a star, rather than one of the stars, on a team and (5) he can resist the whose who of recruiting cheats.

I don’t see Tobias or his family taking any of those temptations from a coach to sign. They seem to have heads on their shoulders and will play it fair.

Still glad to see/hear he had a good time. Can’t be anything but a good sign.

Did you get his autograph? I saw him signing some after the game was over.

Awesome

Very cool. If Tobias ends up at MD, the University of Maryland, it’s athletic program, and it’s fans are indebted to you. Or at least owe you a dinner.

good job

any recent news on how the visit ended? also do you think it was better we were at the tail end of his visits? and i think it was amazing he went for opening night and i think his bro might teeter him over here!

His pops seems to really like GW

Hopefully that’s a good sign.

I don’t know, I’m starting to get excited with this. Harris seems like a really legitimate possibility.

I like what I'm hearing

All this good info about his dad liking us so much. All the positive reviews from the visit. I hope they’re not leading us on and then come decision time, commit to some other school. That will totally kill me. I’ll probably be emo for quite a while. ;-p

I am trying so hard not go get my hopes up. Remember, he has close ties with Syracuse and one of his teammates has committed there for 2010. Also, you can never rule out Kentucky. Still, I think it would be a great fit and both he and Maryland would really benefit. Let’s hope it happens.

The friend thing doesn't mean anything, IMO...

Remember T. Ross and T. Jones? That worked out well for Maryland…

It can only b e a good sign, but, at the same time, they have had very positive things to say after every visit.

even if...

we lose out on Harris, which is most likely the case, we should be proud to be back in the conversation with a top-10 recruit. I feel like two years ago, we wouldn’t even have a shot.

And we should also be proud to have a top-10 recruiting class… with or without Harris.

I think Harris is going to be a great college player and I was proud to see UMD fans recognize him and host him so well at the Charleston Southern game the other night.

Let’s hope we can wrap him up!
