Scott Questionable for Eastern Michigan Game
Maryland running back Da'Rel Scott, the team's leading rusher with 135.7 yards per game, is questionable for Saturday's game against Eastern Michigan with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder, coach Ralph Friedgen said on his Sunday teleconference.
Scott will be limited to non-contact drills this week.
Well, I'm not sure it's a huge deal. Davin Meggett is playing great right now - more experience and confidence can only help. I'd hate to see Da'Rel come out against Eastern Michigan and get hurt and be out for the rest of the year, or something similar. My guess: he dresses, but doesn't start. Unless the team really needs him, I don't think he'll play.
Something else interesting, in the same article.
Friedgen also said he might make a change to the kicking game, as Obi Egekeze has now missed five straight field goals, including a 27-yard attempt this past weekend. "I'm still thinking that over," Friedgen said. "Before I make any decisions like that I probably want to talk to our staff and to Obi. We've gotta get better in that area, one way or the other."
That's good news, as well. This team can't compete in the ACC if they can't hit a field goal. Nothing against Obi, but he's not a good kicker. It's a shame, because he's a great Terp.

DS will be fine with rest – there shouldnt be any urgency to get him back on the field for EM. Meggett has been awesome and the forgotten one, Morgan Green, who is more than capable, is hopefully completely healthy again and just needs some reps to get his game legs back. Henry is also there if needed. RB isnt a problem while DS heals and rests up for Clemson.
I’m more concerned with Obi. His head has got to be scrambled eggs. He has the leg and he has the productive experience of 2007. I’m not sure what happened but RF needs to ‘explore other options’ even if he sticks with Obi. I’m not sure what we have for a PK beyond Obi. Only BarBour and Baltz are listed. Coaches should know what their range is from practice and know if either of the other two are capable. The EM game may be a good testing ground. Obi almost missed an XP too. He’s shaky at this point at best. Maybe he needs to know his position isnt ‘a given’.
